Tony Drewry’s song, Chinga Tu Muro, has become a local battle cry since U.S. Customs and Border Protection unveiled plans in February for a border wall that could cut off access to the Rio Grande and several popular hiking trails.
He wrote it in 2017 shortly after the inauguration of Donald Trump, who made border wall construction one of his campaign promises.

The proposal—part of a sweeping “Smart Wall” project—showed a metal barrier 30 feet tall cutting through Big Bend National Park, Big Bend Ranch State Park and miles of public and private land along a 517-mile stretch of the border.
