Keep Big Bend Wild submits these comments in hopes that that CBP will seriously consider all public comment before proceeding with plans to build border security infrastructure within Big Bend National Park (BBNP). March 27 members of Congress penned a letter to DHS expressing their opposition to border barrier plans. CBP Commissioner wrote a response outlining some of the border security plans in more detail. June 16th members of Congress wrote another letter of opposition related to recent waivers of federal environmental and historic preservation laws inside Big Bend National Park.
In March 2025, Former Big Bend National Park Superintendent Bob Krumenaker and Terrell County Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland both testified before a hearing of the House Natural Resources Committee regarding Border Security.
