News broke last week that a $1.7 billion construction contract had been awarded for border barriers in Big Bend National Park. It’s the largest such contract ever awarded in U.S. history.
However, contract details, obtained by the staff of a prominent U.S. senator and shared with me by a trusted source, say that there will not be a 30-foot border wall in the national park.
Instead, the contract specifies 17 miles of “vehicle barriers” and 205 miles of “patrol roads and technology” in unspecified locations.
