Sibley Nature Center is hosting former national park superintendent Bob Krumenaker to talk about the grassroots effort Keep Big Bend Wild (KBBW) from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 17. This free event is designed to inform participants about keeping Big Bend National Park’s wild, open spaces protected.
“We are excited to host Mr. Krumenaker at Sibley Nature Center to discuss this important topic,” Education Director Misty Thompson said in a news release. “It is crucial to keep the conservation of our most treasured landmarks top of mind, and this event is aimed at doing so.”
The KBBW is building a widespread coalition of support for a long-dormant effort to see the still-undeveloped wild lands of Big Bend National Park away from the existing roads and facilities be protected as federal wilderness, something only Congress can enact. It is the best way to protect the park’s natural and cultural resources, wildlife, night skies and natural sounds for future generations while maintaining the facilities and access today’s visitors enjoy.
Sibley Nature Center invites the community to participate in this informative event.
