Billy Bartko has spent his life building something in Terlingua. He and his wife own Far Flung Outdoor Center near Big Bend National Park—guided river trips, Jeep tours, ATV tours, and a 25-room adventure hotel that, as he puts it, is “100% dependent upon national park tourism.” Twenty-five percent of their revenue comes directly from river trips. If the Trump administration’s border wall goes through as planned, that quarter of his business is simply gone, he said.
“There are several companies in town—that’s all they do is river trips,” he told Courier Texas. “There goes all of those companies.”
