It’s not often Republican sheriffs and a Democratic lawmaker stand behind the same podium to talk about border security, but that’s what happened Monday afternoon in Sanderson, Texas.
The stop in Sanderson marked the third day of Talarico’s “Frontera Tour,” a trip taking him through border communities from El Paso to the Rio Grande Valley as he promotes what he calls a “common-sense border security” plan, alongside Republican, Democratic and Independent local leaders, sheriffs and business owners who said they agree on one thing: they want stronger border security, but they don’t believe another border wall through the Big Bend is the answer.
